CDLIS Basics

CDLIS is a nation wide reporting system that records all traffic violations by CDL Operators.

Why It Matters

Employers, Carriers and Insurance Companies make decisions about you  based on CDLIS.

What You Don't Know

Your CDLIS score includes violations committed in your passenger car.

What a Commercial Driver Needs to Know

We live in the computer age. Before the 9/11 terrorist attacks driving records were not centralized. From state-to-state and county-to-county, records were not uniform or shared.  Now, everything is recorded. From tickets received in a passenger car to the most serious CDL offenses, everything is recorded in a central database. Most police, prosecutors, and judge don't really understand the system and often tell drivers 'Don't worry, this won't go on your record", which is 100% WRONG. As a professional driver you need to understand that EVERYTHING is recorded.

What It Means  – It means you need to be careful. State laws about "court supervision or "deferred prosecution" mean nothing. It is federal law that controls how offenses are categorized in CDLIS. What may seem minor [i.e. disregarding a traffic control device] is actually a serious offense. As a professional driver you need an equally professional lawyer to help you navigate the CDLIS minefield.

Our Mission  – We defend professional drivers. We understand CDLIS, SAFER, and how offenses are reported. We understand how hard CDL Operators work, the long hours on the road, and the sacrifices all operators make. Our passion is helping professional drivers. We NEVER charge for consultations and we ALWAYS help our drivers.

Firm policy– Every attorney and team member will treat you with respect. YOU are the client and we work for YOU. Our drivers always comment that they have never worked with a Law Firm like ours. We pride ourselves on our friendly attitude, and shooting straight. We never promise what we can't deliver, and our business is built on referrals from Professionals like YOU!

Firm profile –Our office is located in Joliet, Illinois, the trucking capital of the midwest. With the Centerpoint intermodal, and the crossing of I-80 and I-55, Joliet is the trucking capital of the midwest and almost every police department in the area has a 'truck enforcement unit.' Some are good, while others are amateurs. We have gained a reputation as the 'go to' law firm for professional drivers because we know trucking.
